Having lived and skied in La Clusaz for over twenty years, during which time we have fallen head overheels in love with this very special, hidden gem, in the French Alps.

Andrew: “Skiing in La Clusaz has been Soooo amazing… I’m back for a fifth season !”
Andrew has followed adventure far and wide – from his home in Scotland to Canada, Greece, Egypt and France. Whether it’s on his snowboard, skis, windsurf board or mountain bike, you’ll usually find Andrew enjoying the great outdoors.
Over the winter season of 2007 Andrew earned his snowboard instructor’s certificate in Whistler, Canada. He left snow for the sun and water in Vassiliki, Greece and began working at the legendary windsurf resort Club Vass. Here he qualified as a windsurf instructor and developed a passion for freestyle windsurfing. Andrew spent several summers working as a restaurant manager at Club Vass and it was here that he met Dani. He eventually moved over to become a mountain bike guide with Dani after completing his mountain bike instructor’s qualifications. Summer 2012 saw Andrew and Dani in Vaujany, France where they ran a catered chalet that hosted mountain bikers and hikers looking for a great summer holiday in the Alps.
Andrew joined the Chalet Panoramic team in 2009 and hasn’t looked back!
Dani: “Come and try my afternoon tea cakes!!!”
After studying Architectural Technology at Glamorgan University, Dani was in search of an adventure. She found herself in Vassiliki, Greece at Club Vass where she became a windsurf and dingy sailing instructor. Her love for windsurfing kept her at Club Vass for several summers and took her to Dahab, Egypt in the winter.
Returning to her home in Wales, Dani became a MIAS Level 2 mountain bike instructor and eventually a mountain bike trainer assessor. When she returned to Club Vass, she managed their mountain biking programme.
Summer 2012 found Dani hosting a catered chalet for mountain bikers in France. This gave her a chance to combine her mountain biking leadership skills with her love of cooking.
Now in her fifth season at Chalet Panoramic, Dani is popular with the guests for her incredible afternoon tea cakes. She always has a sweet treat in store for the guests when they come in off the slopes!
… and the new kids on the block
Sammy+Jay have joined us for their first season in the Alps… he an incredible chef and her an amazingly talented muscian. Both are important criteria for Chalet Panoramiic guests !!
… a composer, a musician and now … here to serve !!
Sammy went on from College to University and studied ‘Creative Music Technology’ at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. After three years studying she graduated with a 2:1 Honours Degree. During her years at College and she toured with a seven piece band and supported ‘The Stranglers’! Until now she says, that was her only claim to fame !
She says that all she’d done up to the age of 24 was study Music full time… now was the time for travel !
Working front of house in a hotel in the Shropshire hills over the Christmas period of 2012, she met Jay and they decided to go away and do seasonal work for the upcoming summer. Travelling to Greek Island Ios, for 5 months and working in a Sports bar/restaurant was long enough to get ‘the bug’ ! Coming back from a long hot summer it was time to try a Ski season !
She says “I’m really looking forward to hitting the slopes for the first time. I’m sure I’ll be spending most of the first week going down on my bum !”
Jay fell in love with the outdoors after contemplating the army and doing courses in rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing and kayaking. From there he went on to become an outdoor instructor, and that’s when travelling began.
Summer seasons all over the UK and then onto the Alps to do a winter season in the 3 Vallees, working in Les Menuires.
After two more summer seasons of instructing and instructor training he decided to enter the world of Cusisine ! Retraining as a chef through an apprenticeship with the Marriott hotel he went to work at a small coaching inn set in the Shropshire hills, where I met Sammy…. and as they say the rest is history !!
On coming to La Clusaz he says ”Im really looking forward to getting back to the mountains, to a classic unspoilt resorts like La Clusaz, and putting my new skills to work “!
